ThinkFirst-Nevada's Helmet Program provides hundreds of FREE helmets each year to "kids" of all ages. Thanks to donations from local partners in the business community, we hold events several times each year at venues like health fairs, video game houses vehicle showrooms and ice cream stores.
According to medical researchers, wearing a proper helmet can prevent up to 85% of bicyclists' brain injuries. It is truly the single most effective protection you can employ, yet nearly 50% of all bikers in the U.S. do not use them! Click here for more information from ThinkFirst Fast Facts sheets.
We do not just "give away" helmets at our events. Each recipient is fitted for a proper size helmet and adjustments are made to the straps to provide a secure fit. The process takes about five minutes per person, during which time we offer educational chatter to the child and parent on bicycle safety issues. Each helmet also comes with a pamphlet from the manufacturer on proper care and use of the helmet. It's a lot of fun and the smiles you get from the kids will melt your heart. Join us as we seek to "Helmet Every Head" in Nevada! A tax deductible contribution of $1000 will provide 50 helmets with your company name/logo. Larger donations can be combined with one or two other donors to allow us to purchase helmets in bulk (see top photos). To host an event, complete with your business logo on the helmets, please contact us at (702) 596-8660.
If you or your organization would like to help at an event, please contact us at (702) 596-8660. No experience necessary - we'll provide a simple training session on the basics of proper helmet fitting for those who are unfamiliar with the process. And we can always use a few extra hands to distribute written safety materials or just to help keep the flow of people moving smoothly. And if you're an avid bicyclist, youre most welcome to wear your riding gear - the kids love to see that!
Please join us as we say a big THANK YOU! to our current and/or past helmet sponsors:
